My son has been diagnosed with a severe oral aversion & the only nipple he will use are the avent natural nipples. I went to the store to buy more since he occasionally chews holes in them & when I got home & opened them up they were these new nipples. My son absolutely refused to drink out of them & now they are the only ones you can find in stores! Why? I had to come directly to the Phillips site to stock pile the old natural nipples since I am terrified they are going to discontinue them for these new, not at all better nipples! Since my son does have a severe oral aversion & the only way he gets his nutrition is through the natural nipples this is a HUGE concern for me!

Hi, thanks for leaving a review. We're sorry to hear that your baby didn't like our new nipple. Our new design uses a compression mechanism that only releases milk when your baby is actively drinking. This creates a seamless combination between bottle feeding and breastfeeding. When choosing the nipple flow, we recommend that you also pay attention to your baby's drinking patterns. You can then select the suitable flow rate depending on if your baby drinks enthusiastically or steadily. Keep in mind that it can take a few attempts before your baby can get used to the change and realize they can use the same pattern they use with breastfeeding when bottle feeding too. We hope this helps! Should you have further concerns, feel free to reach out to us at 1-800-542-8368. One of our specialists will then try their best to assist you further. Kind regards, Philips Consumer Care
I was using Life Factory bottles in the beginning but noticed the top of the bottles were not big enough. I found these as replacements and they have been great! My daughter is about to be 8 months and we got the level 5 nipples (6 mos. +), there has been no issue or any leaks! I love these glass bottles!

Hi, Thanks for your review regarding the Natural Response Nipple, we are sorry to see just one star and hope we can help improve your experience. A free flow nipple does release milk more easily for your baby. However, this may lead to spilling, overfeeding, and your baby not wanting to work for milk when breast feeding. The new Natural Response Nipple requires your baby to use the same drinking pattern they use on the breast, which means the transition between breast and bottle can be made more easily. The flow rate of milk they get from the nipple is linked to how enthusiastically or steadily they drink as they develop. Enthusiastic drinkers use a strong suction and compression while drinking, resulting in greater milk flow, so they usually need a lower nipple flow from the Natural Response range (such as nipple number 1 or 2) to avoid overflow. Slow and steady drinkers are likely to prefer a higher nipple flow (such as nipple 4 or 5), to ensure enough milk flows, regardless of age. If you have any further questions, please feel free to get in touch with our dedicated Avent Parent and Child Care team on 1-800-542-8368. One of our colleagues will then try their best to help you further. Hope to speak to you soon! Kind regards, Philips Consumer Care
Terrible.. I replaced my baby’s old 0m+ nipples with the new version (without realizing how dramatically different they are) and he needed 30 mins to drink 2.5 oz. He was fussy and mad about the bottles at daycare for two days until I realized what was going on. Based on other reviews I don’t even want to bother with getting the highest flow since even that seems difficult for babies. I’m going to have to find a different bottle and nipple altogether for his final months with bottles.
My 3 month old took an hour to drink 3 ounces and she got so tired of sucking she gave up. The nipple also collapsed on us multiple times. Please bring back the old design it’s the only nipple she will take and the only one that works!

Hi Makensie, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are very sorry to hear about the inconvenience caused to you and your little one, and we can only imagine how negatively it's affecting your routine. We recommend trying higher nipple flows with the Natural Response Nipple if your baby is coming from a traditional bottle (including our previous Natural Bottle range). They are likely to be used to more milk coming out of the nipple with little effort on their part. If you experience a collapsed nipple or the nipple is drawn into the bottle, the anti-colic valve may be blocked or stuck together. If the nipple collapses during feeding, please follow the steps below on how you can fix this: 1. Pull the nipple out of the bottle using your clean fingers or tongs. 2. Find the valve, located below one of the numbers that is printed on the base of the nipple. 3. Pull the nipple sideways, making sure the valve is on top while you are pulling the nipple sideways. Pull firmly until you see the valve opening Once opened, you can continue the feed. And concerning our previous Natural Nipples: we are in the process of changing all our Natural Nipples to the new Natural Response Nipple, so we are no longer making the previous versions of the nipple. In some stores or online, you may still find some of the previous Natural Nipples as they work through any inventory they may have. If you have any further questions, please feel free to get in touch via social media. We’re available 24/7 on Facebook and Twitter. Alternatively, you can reach out to us via the contact page on our website. One of our colleagues will then try their best to help you further. Hope to speak to you soon! Kind regards, Philips Consumer Care
Our kiddo does not like the new nipples. Even a 5 is too slow and they are loud. Let us choose if we want a "natural response".

In trying to emulate nipples for breastfeeding babies, Philips has left behind those babies who don't have great suction and always relied on bottles with easy flow nipples. My son now suffers because of this since he can't use the new design.

There new nipples are way to hard/stiff compared to the old ones. My 9 month old hates them but that’s all I can find online and in stores now. It’s a shame they changed because all my kids used to love the avent nipples and I never had an issue transitioning with them.
