Don't be fooled by titles, Newton is the only truly breathable crib mattress I found after tons of research. Suffocation was my top concern and I was gifted an "organic, breathable" mattress but it turned out to be a disaster. Only the top cover was organic cotton, but under that it was covered in plastic which made it totally unbreathable (and turns out most other organic crib mattresses are!) I also learned that for all other mattresses, waterproof=wrapped in plastic (even "organic" ones). Once I did more research, I checked the ones I liked in the store. Turns out most "breathable" mattresses aren't really breathable- if a baby turns over they can’t breathe… except for the Newton. Newton is totally different than any other mattress because the inside is like a cushy but sturdy mesh. You can seriously breathe through the thing. Thank goodness, because my daughter started rolling over early and from then on slept face down. Also, it's FULLY washable which is amazing. If a mess goes through the cover (which it only has once all year) I can put the cover in the washing machine and wash the entire mattress core in the shower. So happy I traded out of the so-called organic one.
I was pretty happy with this mattress until it started coming apart. I've taken very good care of it and never "washed" it like it states you can, so it's upsetting to have spent so much money on something that isn't lasting very long.

This is my second Newton mattress! If you’re not familiar with this brand they specialize in completely washable mattresses from the cover to the core and are breathable. The first one I ordered was the waterproof, however I’ve never had a blow out big enough that using the waterproof side was necessary, so for second baby I decided to get this one.
We’ve had this mattress for over a year now and we love it. Honestly, the influencers on social media influenced my purchase and I couldn’t be happier with it. Our twins are tummy sleepers and the fact that the mattress is mesh through and through really does give peace of mind. I highly recommend this mattress to anyone looking for the right mattress for your crib.

I was originally drawn to this mattress because the reviews were the best I’ve seen. I have now realized that the most positive reviews are fake. Read them over and you will realize that the fake reviews just state things taken directly from advertisements and the real ones state that the mattress is UNSAFE for infants. There is far too much loose fabric. A huge SIDS hazard. Covers on infant bedding should fit very snuggly.
Best Mattress . Breathable . Everyone needs this one.

I was so excited when I finally picked what I thought was going to be a safe mattress for my first baby. The Grey cover that zips around it is huge! The directions say it doesn’t need to be washed but customer service told me it’s wrong and to wash on hot settings. I did that and nothing changed. I even resorted to trying to tuck the extra fabric in the sides of the crib (which seems like an unsafe solution) it’s still too big. I really hope Buy Buy Baby doesn’t give me a hard time when I try to return this. I’m so disappointed in this mattress’ quality and firmness. Aside from how it’s made, there is nothing accurate about the information I read on other reviews.
