[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This modern pump is effective, quiet, and conveniently small. As an exclusive-pumper for twins, I tried a variety of brands and types. Honestly, the first time I used it I got emotional as the suckling setting feels so authentically like a suckling newborn! Pros: • Beautiful packaging opens to images of parents & babies that gives the warm fuzzies • Suckling setting truly feels like baby’s suckle • The pump is lightweight, super quiet, and impressively compact • Pump pulls milk effectively and efficiently for maximum production • BACKFLOW design – yay!! This is my single favorite thing about this pump. I produce a lot of milk quickly. This has been a major issue for me with other pumps that would suck the milk into the tubes (and I would have to frequently sterilize or replace them). The backflow piece saves any milk from being wasted or pump parts needing extra cleaning. • Less pump parts than other pumps (no little flange) • Dishwasher safe! Always a major plus • Love the y-shaped, single cord that is used for pumping whether you are double or single pumping • The breast shields have soft, silicone edges that contour to the breast. They’re far more comfortable than the average hard-edged ones • Small size + battery pack (batteries not included) makes pumping on-the-go easy • Comes with a fridge bag, spare bottles/lids, and ice pack that forms to bottle shapes. An extra perk for those who will be pumping at work or while out and about. • Comes with a nicely sized (but not overly large) and fashionable bag • The pump doesn’t shut off automatically at 30 minutes: nice for those times you want to mindlessly pump for a long time Cons: • Although the breast shields are comfortable, the soft edges make it easy to drip off little bits of milk at the end of a session – these are easier to catch with the hard edged kind. However, if this is a major issue for you, I believe you could attach the earlier design of Medela shields that have the hard edge. • It takes a long time for the milk to gradually drip into the bottles once you’re done pumping. If you twist the pump parts off right away, a considerable amount of milk will leak out of them. Of course, any wasted milk is super disappointing! I recommend finishing your pumping session then waiting several minutes before untwisting the pump parts from the bottle. • I wish Medela would design larger bottles that fit this and other pumps for those with heavy milk production • A light would be nice for late-night pumping sessions, although the raised buttons make it easier to tell which is which • The pump doesn’t remember your last pump setting (as in suction strength) or have a timer on it. At first, this annoyed me, but then I found it forced me to be more intuitive with my pumping. Instead of focusing on the number setting or how long I’d pumped for, I’d ask things like “do my breasts feel empty yet?” or “am I comfortable?” The cons were a minor nuisance, but not enough to affect my scoring of this product: the pros far outweighed them. I recommend this to any expectant parents looking for a compact, hospital-grade breast pump. *I received this product free from the Stellar Product Testing Panel in exchange for my honest opinion*

I wanted to love this as much I’ve loved my other medela pumps. I was so excited to get away from the big black bag and and try this new slim milk boosting pump. First of all, the flanges are awful. I could not get the right fit and it made my nipples so sore. My milk production did not increase at all. I felt like it never fully emptied my breasts. If anything I experienced decreased output. Since it vibrates, it is not quiet at all. It rattles quite loudly on hard surfaces. I got this pump though my insurance. After 3 days I ended up buying a spectra and love it. This is my 5th baby and 5th time exclusively pumping. I am extremely disappointed in the performance of this pump. Please also note that most of the positive reviews are from people who were paid to test this product. I was not and I hated it. If you love medela like I do, stick with their old style.

I have been exclusively pumping for the last year and had to have the pump replaced twice due to motor failure. They also offer a very limited number of flange sizes which makes it had to find a good fit.

I bought this pump November 30th 2022 and not even 4 months and the plastic was starting to separate between the seams causing water build up and mold started to form between the seams of the connectors. We hand dry them every time after we wash them so we know it wasn’t our fault. If it was up to me I would demand they do a recall on the connectors because the quality is very lacking and could have caused very serious health issues. I was very lucky that my spouse and I are very OCD when it comes to anything that our baby uses. Being absolutely furious couldn’t describe how my spouse and I are feeling right now! Wash, sterilize, and dry it properly. I couldn’t believe it! We are absolutely disgusted and furious that they allowed this to pass quality control. Please for the safety of your little ones, do not buy this pump!
This pump is horrible. My daughter won’t latch so I have to exclusively pump. The membranes only last for a couple of days and it’s costing a decent amount to have to keep replacing them. The suction is very inconsistent and my milk supply is being severely affected. I’m going to have to buy a new pump to try to get my milk supply up so I don’t have to switch to formula.

Loud, suction and settings are so-so. My husband paid out of pocket in a desperate attempt to get me a pump with flanges that were my size asap because i was in pain from using the wrong size (didnt know for awhile). It was sweet but i woshbi woukdve endured the pain of using the wrong size flanges with the other pump until getting new flanges in the mail and saved the money because this one never empties my breasts fully, doesnt have a tome display, has a short mode for let down and is super loud. Oh and after a week or so the suctions weaker and you cant use the parts interchangeably with other pumps.

I really wanted to like this pump, because it's a perfect size for transporting to work and I was hoping it's "max flow" thing would make pumping more efficient. Unfortunately I get significantly better results with my old (5 years) pump in style advance. This new pump feels like it jumps or vibrates unnecessarily which makes it SUPER loud sitting on any hard surface and translates to a weird jerking/pulling sensation on the breast. I ended up renting a hospital grade pump while my baby was in NICU because I couldn't stand using this one. I have used it only a handful of times in 3 months. The only upside is I got it through insurance so I'm not out any money for a subpar product.

This is a great small, simple to use pump. The parts are easy to clean. I have not tried taking it out, but plan to use this at work. I do have to pump for 45 minutes to feel completely empty. The pump is loud and after using it for 45 minutes the pump motor sounds like it might break. I pump 5-6 times a day. I just ordered the Sonata and will use the PIS for travel.

I’ve been using this pump for one month and the suction is terrible. It will literally lesson in suction while you are pumping. It’s effected my milk production at this point. I’m constantly unhooking and reattaching hoses or the back of the bottles while pumping to reengage suction. Because of the pumping is constantly stopping and starting. It take almost an hour to get 3 ounces. Get literally any other pump. Also the buttons are not good either you have to push them just right for the function of said button to work. Super annoying when you have a newborn and are bumping. Did these get beta tested at all? I’m trying to find an older model models. Back when there was great suction and dials on the pump. 10 years ago these pumps were the best ones to have. They have really fallen to the wayside it seems.

Absolute worst pump ever! I’ve had two in the past 10.5 months. The first pump I got through insurance, it stopped suctioning around month 6 of use. So I called Medela and they replaced it no problem. The replacement pump they sent me is starting to have the same problems so I called them and they are asking for proof of purchase on the pump they sent me??? Don’t waste your time. Get yourself a Spectra.
