We have 2 of these gates and I couldn't be happier with them. The install is simple and quick. We have a gate at the top and bottoms of the stairs. We have double handrails at the bottom and the kit for that worked great as well. The gates have been installed for over a year and they have held up really well. Our 2 year old is strong as a bull and has been extremely rough with the gates at times (until we could get to him). He has pulled, shaken, hung off, and stood on the gate at different times. He's a wild one and the gates have taken everything he has dished out (and he is NOT gentle). We need to keep him out of another area now that he is older, so I am buying another one today. Decided to leave a review to help others decide. I prefer this gate design for stairs and in general because it prevents the trip hazard by not having a bottom rail. I highly recommend this baby gate for anyone.
My 18 month old has easily snapped off the safety bars of this gate.

This gate is easy to install and decent looking for a safety gate. However the "double action" latch can be opened by simply putting pressure anywhere on the latch with even one finger. Also the hinges are not very robust whatsoever. The bottom hinge has quite literally blown apart several times within the first few weeks of install, and this leads to the gate jumping out of the mount and landing on the floor. It is a danger in itself, aside from its lack of baby proofing the top of a staircase. Our first born boy would have destroyed this gate at 10 months old. We'll be taking it down, save your money and holes in the wall.

Just had a certified professional childproofer check out my house, this failed. Loose pieces a choking hazard.
Product looks great in our home (black). Stairway is in center of our home and house traffic path is passing by it. Someone could inadvertently step into open stairway. We use this for an adult notification and mounted it higher for this purpose.
Very happy with the gate, easy installation, works great.
Easy to open and close, and no bottom bar to trip over. I am pleased with the gate except for the latch which didn’t last long and the gate can be pushed up too easily since the tab broke. I can’t find a replacement part, so please let me know if you have them. Thank you!
I am shocked this is advertised as a top of stair gate. We have multiple types of gates in our house and needed one for a new area and decided to give this one a try bc it was in stock locally. Our toddler can’t open any of the gates we have installed but had this open in under 60 seconds. The two moves needed to open it quickly becomes worthless because the button doesn’t need to be held down while pulling up on the gate. Once the simple button is pushed the gate is unlocked and can be lifted open at any point. The gate also easily comes apart at the hinge even when I open it as the adult removing the entire gate from the wall! This happens more frequently than the intended swinging function. It’s a joke and should not be used in any areas you want to protect your kids from. It may be the most disappointing baby product we have purchased to date.
So far this gate is working well. Seems well built. Install was fairly easy. Would recommend.
