I've purchased several of these units over the years. When one leaked, I thought it was a defective unit. However, after several of them leaked, I noticed it was a design flaw --- specifically in the base stopper, where the valve fails to close, thus allowing water to empty on the floor, causing damage to anything in the area including rugs, wood floor, and a slip hazard and electrocution hazard. You get the idea. This unit is untrustworthy, unreliable and flawed.

I bought this beginning of December worked great the first 2-3 weeks now it won’t stay turned on, will run a little bit then shuts off!

Loved it, but then it was bumped and got knocked over. It's now in pieces. Had it for a week.

When i first bought this it worked great, now it decides not to work at all. For a bit, it just wouldnt stay on - set at high humidity and only going for a couple minutes, even with the timer on. Now it just says out of water and won't put out anything at all - the tank is full still because it wasn't putting out anything before. So frustrating especially considering how much this cost.

First, this was not a promotional rating. I've owned humidifier for over 2 years now, & still working great. Very quit, Ultra fine mist doesn't leave any dampness on floor or objects. Large water reservoir.

I have used this humidifier for a little over a week now and it is really great. You can set the relative humidity % and the device will stop producing mist when the RH% has been reached and then start back up when it needs to add more humidity. I like to keep my house at 45-50% in the winter, so having this humidifier take care of that on its own is great. The full tank lasts about 3 days, so not having to fill it 2x/day is a big improvement over my other humidifier. I also love the aromatherapy option; adding essential oils to the pad and letting it run produces a nice light scent, not overpowering at all. I have played with the warm mist setting, and it works find, but I prefer cool-mist so I have kept it set there. There is also a low back-light option, that is not really a night-light, but is more an ambient back-light. Overall this was well worth the additional $ over some of the other OTC humidifiers, so I am very pleased with my purchase. As for longevity, I have had other HoMedics products and they have lasted, so I am sure this will as well.

Don’t be like me and believe the good reviews! Those good reviews are not real, they are part of a promotion. The truth is after 2 weeks the sensor that checks the water level stops working. This is why the steam just stops working for no reason at all. Best Buy has a terrible return policy so don’t waste your money on this junk. Keep looking for a better humidifier.
