Cares® Kids Fly Safe Airplane Safety Harness

I gave it 3 stars because it looks easy to use & should protect well. She hasn’t used it yet,trip not until June

I bought this for my one year old's first flight in an effort to keep her safe and to keep her in place so she didn't try to get out of her seat. I read some other reviews and brought a sock (to keep her from unbuckling her seatbelt) and the non-stick pad (to keep her from sliding down). Both were useful, although she still slid a little bit. Overall, this was great and the flight attendant even commented that she uses one for her little one too. My daughter is pretty big for her age at 27lbs and about 32", so this may not work for a one year old who's a little smaller.

We took a flight and as soon as we took off the little one tried to get out by sliding under the belt. On the return flight, we used kitchen liner and that helped but the buckles that strap around the seat were too close to her head making it uncomfortable for her. We took a 2nd flight a few weeks later and purchased a FAA compliant, cheap car seat. The car seat was actually cheaper than this contraption and only weighed 8 lbs. It worked better. When she is older, taller we will try this again

We have one of these for each of our children. We started to use them at age 2.5 and continue now that our oldest is 5. It was a struggle at the younger age to get the kids to sit still and not slide under the bottom. I do wish they had something that went through the legs to keep the kids buckled. Now that the kids are older (3.5 and 5), these are easy to use and give us peace of mind for turbulence.

This worked great. Make sure you bring a drawer liner for your child to sit on so he/she doesn't slip out.

This Product worked very well for my very active 2 year old son! It was easy to install and very light to travel with vs. a huge car seat. The only downfall is that the airplane seat belt is what secures the waist and it's pretty easy for a 2 year old to figure out how to unbuckle that. wish this product had something that covered the airplane strap or helped keep it locked in. ALL & ALL it was pretty great!

Bought this for our 20 mo. daughter for our first flight. She could slide out the bottom pretty easily but it was good for takeoff and landing, and would have kept her safe during turbulence if we had any. Being mobile, there was no way she would have stayed in a carseat the whole time! (We had a carseat with our rental car so it wasn't an issue).

This harness is the only FAA-approved one, making it essential for toddlers on planes. However the placement of the plastic strap clips puts it directly on top of my 2-year-old's shoulders, so if she tries to doze off it digs into her face or ear. We kept trying to relocate the pillow or adjust the straps, but since the anchor clips are not moveable, we were stuck. The red strap that goes around the seat back is also prone to coming loose, no matter how many times we tried to tighten it—and because it's behind the tray table of the person sitting behind you, you can't adjust it once you're in the air. It's easy to put on, but the child also slides forward a lot. Our daughter kept asking us to "Help!" her sit back up again. One reviewer noted that it's helpful to bring a shelf liner or something similar to put on the seat and keep them in place. Will def try that trick next time! Maybe it's better once your kid is around 3-4 but it's tough when they are in their own airplane seat starting at 2 and this is your only option.
