New York-based OXO was established in 1990 as a manufacturer of kitchen utensils and housewares. The business was launched because the founder's wife had mild arthritis and was having difficulty gripping ordinary kitchen tools; he embraced the philosophy of Universal Design and saw an opportunity to create more comfortable cooking tools that would be usable by as many people as possible and soon a business was launched. Today the company remains focused on providing innovative consumer products that make everyday living easier, marketing kitchen goods under the OXO® and OXO Good Grips® brands. Products include ergonomically correct kitchen tools and gadgets such as fruit and vegetable peelers, scrapers, choppers, strainers, citrus juicers and salad spinners; kitchen storage solutions including mini lock top container sets, food storage containers, food containers and water bottles; household storage and cleaning solutions such as over-the-door hooks and folding clip dryers.
